Welcome
To
Quilters' Guild Acadienne!
(Lafayette, Louisiana)
Formed in 1990 as a non-profit organization, the guild was initiated:
*to preserve the culture and tradition of quilt making in the area;
*to promote the tradition and understanding of the many aspects of quilt making;
*to encourage all individuals in realizing their creative abilities.
An example of the Guild’s interests is illustrated through the creation of “Acadian Odyssey”, a full-sized appliqué quilt designed and stitched by many of our members. The quilt is on permanent loan to the city of St. Martinville. It was presented in 1999, on the occasion of Congres Mondial, to commemorate the history of the Acadians. The quilt is on display at the Acadian Memorial in St. Martinville, LA.
