Serving Lafayette, Louisiana & the Acadiana Region

Community Service

Quilts can provide a great deal of comfort to those who are undergoing physical and emotional difficulties. To help those in need, our members participate in community projects where quilts are donated to various local programs. In additional to our current community service activities, we welcome new opportunities to make comforting quilts for those in need in Acadiana. If you know of a need for quilts, please contact us.

Members of the guild will work with the Lafayette Public Library to teach a class on fidget quilts. The details are still being finalized. The date has not been decided, but will likely take place on October 7, November 4 or on both dates. If you would like to volunteer or donate supplies please contact Torch Archibald.

Military Service Program

Alice Bott reported that the Military Service Committee has made 19 bags to
fit on wheelchairs, 16 bags that fit on walkers and one wheelchair quilt so far. Help is needed in
making the quilts and the dimensions will be in the next newsletter.

Here are the directions for the wheelchair quilts. They can be made in any pattern, or whole cloth, and using any fabric that would be suitable for men.
