Serving Lafayette, Louisiana & the Acadiana Region

Community Service

Quilts can provide a great deal of comfort to those who are undergoing physical and emotional difficulties. To help those in need, our members participate in community projects where quilts are donated to various local programs. In additional to our current community service activities, we welcome new opportunities to make comforting quilts for those in need in Acadiana. If you know of a need for quilts, please contact us.

Children in Need

Members work together to make quilts that are donated to various hospitals and children’s charities.

Children In Need
On December 16, 2016, Barbara Wells and Judy Derbes delivered 19 quilts to
Ms. Shy at New Life Center in
Opelousas, a Catholic Services of Acadiana
women and children's shelter. We were able to
call ahead and find out ages and gender for all
the children at the
shelter, so each quilt was more individualized
for each child.
Thanks to everyone who has donated as well as
created!!! It is much appreciated!!!
Barbara Wells,
Children in Need Chairman
Military Service Program

Alice Bott reported that the Military Service Committee has made 19 bags to
fit on wheelchairs, 16 bags that fit on walkers and one wheelchair quilt so far. Help is needed in
making the quilts and the dimensions will be in the next newsletter.
